Phase exists for women who appreciate a different kind of jewellery, offering pieces that are unashamedly playful and vibrant, yet anchored in innovative, forward thinking design. We create sculptural forms that are light and comfortable to wear but give an intriguing focal point for those who like to think a little differently.
Inspired by the kinetic rhythms of wave-forms and light, these dynamic pieces are designed to work with the body as well as adorn. As you move, flexible geometries, three dimensional patterns and hand-dyed gradients catch the light, engaging the viewer and wearer from every angle. Intended to bring wearable art into an everyday wardrobe, these pieces celebrate the pattern and colour of the world around us.
Technology meets craft
To bring these intricate forms to life, the production process balances advanced industrial technology with meticulous studio craft. Every piece begins as an expertly and creatively produced CAD model before being 3D printed via Selective Laser Sintering. This high-performance material is chosen not just for its exceptional durability, but for its ability to produce beautifully complex lightweight structures and patterns.
Once the printed components arrive at the Glasgow studio the pieces are further elevated with our hands-on attention. Each piece is hand-dyed to create our signature colour gradients and carefully finished with high quality sterling silver components.
The 3D printing process is inherently additive and low-waste, utilizing only the exact amount of material required. Partnering with a certified carbon-neutral printing facility in the UK, Phase operates on a conscious, slow-fashion model—creating heirloom-quality design objects intended to be collected, cared for, and worn for a lifetime. We also support Clean Hub, an organisation tackling plastic waste.
About Lynne
Founder and designer-maker Lynne MacLachlan looks at jewellery through an unusual lens, bridging a background in aerospace engineering with a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in jewellery. It is an unconventional trajectory that defines the innovative approach of Phase.
This intersection of technical precision and artistic intuition has earned Lynne recognition from the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council. Her work has been exhibited widely at institutions including the Museum of Arts and Design NY, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and is held in permanent museum collections—including a dedicated multimedia installation at the V&A Dundee. Through Phase, she translates museum-grade design into daily wear, proving that serious design can—and should—embrace a bold sense of colour and joy.
